Ein inspirierender Besuch: Maltherapie als Ergänzung zur Psychotherapie

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Ms. Sandrine Grossenbacher to our psychotherapy practice Upendo in Zurich. Ms. Grossenbacher is a painting therapist and runs an independent practice in Zurich Binz that specializes in the connection between creativity and mental health. Her visit left a lasting impression on us and stimulated many thoughts on expanding therapeutic approaches.

During her visit, Ms. Grossenbacher gave exciting insights into the effects of painting therapy, based on scientific studies. She explained how this form of art therapy can promote emotional well-being, make hidden issues visible and strengthen resources. Particularly impressive was the insight into the process of a typical painting therapy session and the presentation of her patients' work - a touching testimony to the healing processes that painting therapy can enable.

A creative and inspiring environment

Before becoming a painting therapist, Ms. Grossenbacher studied architecture at ETH Zurich and graduated with an MSc. This connection to architecture is clearly reflected in her painting and yoga studio. Her studio is minimalist, flooded with light and at the same time lively - a place that invites you to linger and express yourself creatively. In addition to her work as a painting therapist, Ms. Grossenbacher is also a trained yoga teacher, which gives her work an additional dimension.

The power of images

Ms. Grossenbacher encouraged us psychotherapists to work more creatively with our patients. She emphasized that images can often be more powerful than words, especially in situations where it is difficult to express emotions verbally. This perspective inspired us to think more about creative elements in psychotherapy.

A valuable addition - also for children and young people

A particularly positive aspect of her work is the broad target group that Ms. Grossenbacher works with. She offers painting therapy not only for adults, but also for children and young people. This is of great value right now, as there are many psychotherapy places for minors. Painting therapy can help young people express their feelings and strengthen their resources - especially at a time that is characterized by stress for many.

Ms. Grossenbacher's work is recognized by most supplementary insurance companies, and she currently still has capacity for new patients. We are convinced that painting therapy is a valuable addition to psychotherapy and can highly recommend Ms. Grossenbacher.

We would like to thank Ms. Grossenbacher for her inspiring visit and look forward to continuing to work together in an interdisciplinary manner to offer our patients the best possible support.
